Cheers utz, didn't realise they were now the MTO.
There live performances look interesting, setup like Kraftwerk.

I like it too, as Garvalf says, maybe a "-" between the 1 and bit and also a small space between the 't' and 'f' to make it more readable?
Have you seen this?
Quite old now but I think it's pretty good. These guys should make a come back and try some of the modern engines available!
Yeah I agree, we could definitely do with a revamp! I've been meaning to have a go at a banner myself for ages but am pretty crap at graphics.
Would be nice to get the screen size to fit on a smart phone in portrait mode too, like the old forum used to. On an iPhone the phone has to be rotated to landscape to display all the columns.
Hadn't noticed the subtle header text change, nice and concise
Hi 4throck, good to see you back
Nice work !
Yay, more Beeper compos
Have you guys seen this new development ?
It seems Speccy fever is in full swing
Another lovely design by Rick Dickinson!
This is great, very impressive. Love the music video feel to it
I'm amazed there was any processor time left for animation while playing Mister Beep's Interstellar Drift Octode XL tune!
AY drums on the 128K too?
Nice idea
I've been very busy at work recently so haven't been very active on the forum but my enthusiasm for 1-bit hasn't diminished.
Maybe a list of allowed engines for the compo?
Very nice Beeper version Garvalf
Really nice pic too. Will make great bandcamp album art for Spring Tracks V , I really hope it wins
Just listened on botb, great job
How about an album made with HT2?
Very interesting sound and variation
Nice piece of kit, and sized to fit into a raspberry pi case was a good idea. The ps2 keyboard socket was a strange choice I thought, but I liked the sticker set available to customise an old keyboard.
As utz said, probably the licence costs preventing an hdmi output, I think this was also the reason the original Vega didn't have it too.
Thanks for all the comments guys
Utz - yeah I enabled the IO contention in Beepola to try and make the output sound like a 48k speccy. It played at the right speed and had the 48k 'muzziness' but the arps were also not distorted, unlike real hardware - bizarre.
Garvalf - I agree, I think for this engine the +2A output sounds cleaner and is preferable. I still prefer the 48k for Qchan though as it seems to beef up the thin sound a bit.
Cheers
I've emailed the source .bbsong to you
Cheers
Hi Guys
If anyone is interested, I've made a recording from real hardware of Space Beeps (Part 2).
The render on BOTB was made from the Beepola export. I originally tried to make a recording from my Speccy 48K but the arps sounded a bit distorted.
I've had another go tonight and recorded it from my Spectrum 128K +2A which sounds OK.
Even though I recorded it in 48K mode the tune does still play a bit faster (shaved about 5 seconds off the length) but I think it sounds a bit less scratchy.
Not sure which version I prefer as other parts have also subtly changed but it seemed wrong not to record it from real hardware
Arrrr the Atari Portfolio. I remember those
Didn't the young John Connor use one in Terminator 2 to rob a cashpoint? The little scamp
Hey hey, yes there does seem to be a lot of activity recently. It's great
Hmmm 1-bit digital modules?
Seems like a strange addition to me!
I love 1-bit music but digital 1-bit mod-like music on the Speccy 48K just doesn't do it for me.
As a technical exercise to prove it can be done, I think 1-bit digital music is great but I'd much prefer to listen to the exact same tune played in better quality through an AY chip.
Anyway, just my opinion, what do you guys think ?
Yes the Vega 1-bit sound is very accuate.
There's the Vega Plus handheld coming out in September too
Cheers utz
Like the sound in the example. As you say, a pretty clean sound but still retaining the synth timbre from a pfm engine. Could be a very interesting new engine !
