Topic: 1-bit music on Thomson 8-bit computers

I've found this topic (in French), about making music from midi files and render them on Thomson:
http://forum.system-cfg.com/viewtopic.p … 33#p107733

It sounds quite great (but only on 2 voices). Just download DCMOTO http://dcmoto.free.fr/emulateur/index.html then the zip file http://forum.system-cfg.com/download/file.php?id=4285
load the sap file
dir
type for example:
LOADM"MV3",,r

(there they also convert musics to 1-bit and stream them to the Thomson: http://forum.system-cfg.com/viewtopic.p … mp;t=6013)

Wow, didn't know this existed. Though one has to wonder why they don't make full use of the 6-bit DAC. But I assume it's like on Dragon/CoCo - generating 1-bit music might simply be faster than using full 6-bit DAC. In fact in the contest, we'll have a CoCo 1-bit routine wink

they're still working on the topic! (they ported quattropic to the thomson and used a midi 2 quattropic converter)

Ah, nice! Must've been quite a challenge to get it up to speed on 6809. I'm curious if the guys will present something at Forever. I think I might've actually met them back at Forever 2010 (where LCD taught me my first steps of Spectrum coding ;D)
