Re: HoustonTracker 2 (TI-82/83/83+/84+)
Damn, what an ordeal! Does this also happen if you try to transfer via command line ("tilp ti82 Silverlink ht2.82p")?

Good news everyone, HoustonTracker 2.1 has been released! Several new effects, improved keyhandling, and of course various bugfixes were implemented. For full details, check the original post in this thread.
Awesome tune!
And congratulations for improving this tracker!
Great news, thank you Utz!
Thanks guys! Btw I made quick video detailing some of the new features, check it out:

I made a little track (a cover of one of my famitracker song) there:

Just listened on botb, great job
How about an album made with HT2?
Really nice pic too. Will make great bandcamp album art for Spring Tracks V , I really hope it wins
So the honour of submitting the first HT2 track to BotB goes to garvalf! *applause*
A very nice tune, congrats! And thanks for promoting
Seems I won't be submitting to Decadent Decade after all. I wanted to do a bunch of Channel F covers, but I just can't find the time to do them.
Thanks. I wanted to submit more tracks (and not only my own tracks) to Decadent Decade but didn't find the time to do this. But they extended it like 20 times so it wouldn't be reasonable to ask for more
About HT2 I like to create new songs from scratch with it, but since there are 16 rows my songs often end with something rather chaotic because the parts are short. So I find it quite pleasant to use it for making covers of another song (so far I've done two tunes like that).
For an HT2 album, maybe a compilation?
For my part, I haven't enough material to create a whole album...
While we're at it, I had a little bug with HT2 but I don't know if it worth mentioning it because I couldn't reproduce it. I'm also thinking it had happened because I was low in battery...
So I had a fresh backup cell (CR1620) but my AAA batteries were probably not fully charged. HT2 was working fine, until I tried to save in a slot (in replacement of an older state). Then I could no longer replay the tune. I could still navigate into the song and the patterns (if I remember well), but couldn't load, save, play or exit HT2. Then I removed the batteries to start again the calc (TI82). The calc couldn't start, so I thought the battery were dead. What was strange is after I saved and it began to have the problem, there was still enough battery to show the display and manipulate some options. So I used fresh batteries. I hadn't any "memory cleared" at startup (again, if I remember well), but when I type the "program" button, all was empty (hopefully I didn't loose much, I had made a backup some time before).
Uh, well, yeah, I think I promised to do a HT2 compilation for the HT2.10 release already I'll put this on the to-do list for HT2.20, which I hope to be releasing some time this fall.
Regarding the bug, I faintly remember something about this. Think I may have fixed the issue in the latest beta builds, so grab that from github to be sure.
I made a little video of my latest little track. It's on facebook, hope you like it

Yo, nice jammin' Also, envy at that nice burgundy colored 82 STATS

Ace! Very intricate composition, I like how the various melody bits meet and diverge again at times.
Guess what, it's time for a new version! HT2.20 comes with new effects, improved speed control, and a savestate manager utility for importing tracks from older versions. Full list of changes can be found in the OP.

cool, I'll test it out
If anyone is feeling adventurous, there's a new beta on github.
New stuff in this version:
- Note table is now tuned to 440 Hz. (This means note A is no longer suited for ch1 noise mode, but there are a couple of other viable options instead.)
- Duty Sweep (5xx, xx > 0x80) is now configurable, ie. xx acts as a speed parameter (581 to get the old behaviour)
- Auto Chord (7xx) now has a "sync" mode (set xx > 0x80), enhances octave harmonics
- a minor drawback, 5xx and 7xx now share a common parameter, meaning they will impact each other in some circumstances
Beware that since this is a beta build, stuff may change without notice, and there's no ht2util support.
Reworked the ch3 pitch slides today. The new systems runs slower (updates synced to main osc), so slides should be slightly more useful now. It doesn't make a huge difference, but it was quite a piece of work. Didn't think I would ever make such drastic changes to the player code at this point, but here we are. Some new possibilities have opened up as well, not sure yet what I'm going to do with all those free t-states that suddenly appeared
Anyway, for the time being, the note table is out of tune again, sorry. Also, 9xx is disabled for the time being, and channel volume balance is pretty awful right now.
- 9xx is back (sounds slightly different and no longer disables 3xx)
- 6xx has a new additional parameter: enable ch3 grind effect when xx > 0x80
- Axx is now ch3 phase offset (can be used as primitive volume control in conjunction with a second channel playing the same note)
- old A0x is removed (A01 was redundant anyway since it can be set via 4xx, A02 might come back later)
- note tables are tuned correctly again
- channel volumes are rebalanced
EDIT: Seems I've broken the 5xx duty sweep and 7xx effects somehow. Stay tuned for updates.
ok, we'll see. I have to finish my Game of Thrones main theme adaptation for the TI...
Cheers garvalf, take your time. I'll probably be working some more on ht2 in the coming days, so there'll be more crap betas
The 5xx/7xx bug turned out to be a phantom bug, caused by faulty z80 emulation. Everything works as intended on hardware, and also the new pitch slides work indeed much better (slower) than tilem2 suggests.
Yippee, FloppusMaximus has fixed tilem2! Latest version is available via
svn checkout https://tilem.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/tilem/trunk tilem

Here is the infamous Games of Throne cover:

Oh, that turned out really nice! Too bad Soundcloud made such a mess of the render. I'm still trying to figure out how that happens, sometimes their rendering is fine and sometimes they botch the tracks completely.
