I'll send you a couple of files with this behavior, if I still have them. I kept some glitches, while I removed some others. I used your last converter from 2015-01-14 I think, I re-downloaded yesterday this one and compared with the cpp code and it was the same https://github.com/utz82/ZX-Spectrum-1- … p?raw=true

for the slides, they sound more like bass drums

It sounds great. If you make something with this, I'll make an ambient tune for sure! wink

I have tried, but TI Connect does not support TI 82 calculators.

ah, it's true I have a ti83+, not a ti82.

if your pc is powerful enough you can try to use a virtual machine with either windows or linux installed (TiLP is not especially easy to use on linux but I managed to make it work anyway, on windows it worked out of the box for me). Otherwise try from a friend's PC to be sure it's not another problem...

For the quattropic engine I get many glitches when I have some notes both on channel 3 and 4 (slide on ch3 and noise on ch4). If I remove one of those tracks, the glitches disappear so it's a conjunction of the two which are producing them. Maybe it's intentional (I don't really understand how the slide notes should behave btw), anyway it's very cool.

thanks AtariTufty.
It seems finishing last is a kind of trademark (or destiny) for me... wink
Hopefully my goal is to create new things. I have a new song ready for the BotB, using the quattropic engine.

have you tried to send the files with the official TI program?

I love this track! Well done Shiru.

Yerzmyey made this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6kcSdlOEizc
He said there is only the beeper (no AY), and some postprocessing. Maybe it's not true 1-bit because of the after effects, but anyway...

I have some Arduino at home, I'd be interested to make 1bit music with them... so please tell us more about what you can do with this...

by the way, the sample tune sounds very good, I guess it's your composition...

about the global duty, I guess the default value is 32, isn't it?

Hehe, I do my live performances with some black metal vocals big_smile So +1 for your idea!

This one is not 1-bit with black metal voices but 8-bit with death metal voices wink  =>  https://mattcreameraudio.bandcamp.com/album/anomaly

hey, they're out! That's great. I'll listen to them soon. A quick browse reveals some good tunes!

How about a drum and bass engine with basically mega bass and a selection of drums/hihats etc.  Maybe 2 mega bass channels or even just one with digi-drums ????

I seriously got the idea to record a (black) metal album with drums only from a ZX spectrum...

I really would like to make an engine that mimicks the sound of an overdriven guitar/bass with variable sound characteristics.

That would be great!

I've posted some files there:

http://garvalf.online.fr/index.php?page=blog_2016-01-06

When I open the resulting wave in a sound editor, along with a wave from a real spectrum, my spectrum seems to be a bit slower (in a 2 minutes song, there is 1 second difference at the end)

I'll try later with engines having more bass, it would be more relevant for the sound. When I compare some songs with the fuse emulators and real spectrum, it's not very obvious which one is which. The real spectrum is somehow slightly warmer.

The bass reminds me much of your previous works, but there are some new things in this one, quite a Daft Punk feeling in fact. It's often a good thing to make covers because it helps to have a new view on how to compose a song (how it's structured and how melodies are made). I should do this more often.
The sound is good, which emulator are you using? (I guess there are some postprocessing as well)

in fact this new version is just a "core", and like the firmware you can easily update it (just copy the new file on the sd card), so I have access to the latest version.

https://github.com/sorgelig/ZX_Spectrum-128K_MIST

I see this project seems to be interesting as well: http://zxuno.speccy.org/  The target price is 40 € for the fpga card and accessories (at the moment you have to solder everything yourself).

If you wish, I can record a song from your 1-bit Mechanistic album so you could hear how it sounds. It'd be interested to compare with original spectrum and vega as well. Do you have a vega recording of one of your songs?

As you may already know, I got last June a fpga board called MiST, from Lotharek in Poland. It can recreate Atari ST, Amiga, Amstrad logics, but also the ones from a ZX Spectrum. It's a very cool device!

http://www.harbaum.org/till/mist/index.shtml

The problem for using it to render beeper music, was that the z80 cpu recreation was not very accurate. But today the creator of the MiST announced that a new version  was released, from another developement project, and this time it seems to be nearly perfect!

I don't know how it can compare to Speccy2010 or the Vega, but I'll probably record a new thing on it now.

it sounds very good. I didn't know Robbie Williams before to be honest. I'm sure you can grab some tricks from this cover for your own music I guess. Well done.

I've found this nice 1-bit music by Dragan Espenschied:

made with 2 Palm phones. You can get the mp3, source and explanations on http://noobz.cc/

yes, I don't think I even got this question on the older board, maybe only on registration.

I don't see it in the rules, so I guess it's ok, the submissions don't have to be anonymous, do they?

but I think Utz as administrator doesn't get those questions. Probably it's a rights problem. On phpbb you can change the user's status (and rights associated with it) after a few messages, but I don't know punbb.

I, too, still get this at random times.
